Was in surgery

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 22, 2017, 12:58 PM
Greetings friends and foes. Most of my closest friends here know what's been going on because Chris has been keeping them in formed. I have seen all your comments on his post and want to say thank you so much for them.  They mean a lot and well I have always known what awesome friends I have. So here's a short version of what happened. Last Saturday I started getting a stomach pain in the late morning.  It felt just like food poisoning so I thought I could ride it out.  I had had eggs that morning and thought the eggs had been bad for me.  It kept getting worse and I told Chris to come home that it was hurting too much.  It got so bad he decided to take me to the ER.  We live very close to the hospital so that was a short drive.  I'm so glad we had the wheel chair from when I had had those back problems.  Because I hadn't had any vomiting they didn't think I had food poisoning. That and the fact Chris ate the eggs too and didn't get sick.  They wanted to do a CAT scan so after thinking about it I decided to go ahead with that.  It was rather neat and I enjoyed being wheeled about in the bed to the room with the machine. I enjoyed talking with the guy that did the scans. It was a nerdy conversation about how CAT scans are also used to scan fossils and make 3D models of objects and how technology has come a long way.  The hallway on the way in had awesome art work painted on it of Florida swamps and habitats.  The CAT scan room had all these native trees and sky painted on it even on the ceiling. Despite being in pain I was enjoying this new experience.

The results came back later and the doctor told me it was my Appendix and it had to come out.  They said it's good I caught it in the early stages. They were ready to do it that night.  So around midnight I went in for Larascopic Apendectomy.  I found it interesting that I was only mildly afraid. I didn't feel afraid until they were about to start.  One interesting thing was one of the attendants asked me to open my mouth and told me I had a small jaw.  I go, "This is for the breathing tube isn't it?"  He looked surprised and goes, "How did you know about breathing tubes?"  He asked.  I told him I'm a biologist and read a lot.  I know what he was psychologically trying to do. Ask me an indirect question to keep me from being afraid, but I knew what he was up to. I was actually curious about what the procedure was.   I was given anesthetics and an hour and a half later I woke up to fuzzy visions and told the operation was a success.  One of the first things I noticed was that I was in a different room.  So I had been moved while still under. I had lots of heavy blankets on me.  I think my body temp which is naturally low much have dropped during the procedure and I wondered if the doctors had panicked.  I get cold easily and one of my first requests was for socks.  Oh btw, I ended up with three pairs of free socks from the hospital. They were warm and neat and I was happy about that.  Also it was just like in the movies the way the lights go by over head and sometimes you see the face of a nurse look down at you. The operating room was like an alien spaceship with the big lights over the table and all kinds of neat looking machines all around.  Ok so when I woke up in that other room one of the first things I noticed was that my throat was all screwed up.  I'm very small so I think the tubes they used were too big. I was very scratched up and could not talk. I could only whisper and even that was hard. I asked for my husband and they told me he was  in the waiting room outside and I'd see him soon.

Poor Chris he was so upset and stressed over this too.  He slept in the waiting room.  The doc told him to go home and get some rest. I stayed the night in the hospital.  I was being given pain meds through IV as well as anti biotics. The five incisions in my tummy are small so it was rather non invasive as can be for something like this.  The doc said my appendix looked like a medium angry shrimp.  It had to do.  Chris came to see me the next morning and I was released in the afternoon.  I was hurting a lot but had been prescribed pain pills.  Everyone at the hospital was nice and I felt comfortable there. I grew up in a family of doctors so I had no problems with being in hospitals as I grew up around them.  I've never been afraid of doctors.  In fact I used the opportunity to show of my knowledge and have some fun conversations.  They loved my micbroes and my Fear that I brought with me as well as the art on my phone.

So for the past week I have been at home in bed recovering. It has not been easy. I have had lots of pain despite the medicine and been very weak. I've had to regain my strength and basically learn to walk again.  I still think this year is off to a good start though despite this.  The reason is I've always had tummy problems all last year. I thought it was odd I got food poisoning so much but now I think it wasn't that but an infection building up to this event. Now with the appendix removed and once I recover I think those problems will stop.  Good to have this happen now and get health stuff out of the way because I have big plans for this year.

I've enjoyed my down time though.  Chris and I have been together a lot and we've been watching cartoons and movies. Mostly super hero stuff.   We've grown closer because of this. My voice came back about three days later.  I've been enjoying my new phone through all this too. I'm not officially back but I have been reading what you guys say though I can't comment.  Chris reads to me and he keeps my inbox from over flowing.  On that note, to my friends, please do not send me any unnecessary stuff. I'm treating this like a vacation and just been deleting everything.  Or he has.  So I'll let you know when I can  catch up on posts and such. Right now I'm lying in bed with the laptop but can't do this very long. Strength's already fading. But I had to update you guys on what's been going on.  I may have over done it today. I felt very good so I wanted to go out since I haven't gotten out in seven days.  Chris took me to Red Lobster and met with a friend.  Was kind of a business meeting actually.  But then I got weak and tired.  Luckily we had brought the wheelchair.  First time using one in a restaurant but yeah still can't walk very far.  I was beat by the time we got home and now I need to stay down the rest of the day.

As far as movies go I found a hilarious one on Netflix just called The Pirates.  It's an Asian film with English subtitles about a whale that swallows the Emperor's royal seal and a bounty is placed in the whale's head. Pirates go after the whale and so do these inept bandits that know nothing about sailing.  It was under action so I had no idea this was a comedy but I really enjoyed it. The special effects were very good so that was a surprise.

Ok guys. I have missed you all but I must leave again.  I need another week of rest.

Thanks. I'm still recovering but doing way better now.  I was able to get out today. I'll post about it soon and I did make some updates on lj so please check those out when you can.  Yes it sucks. They told me this can happen to anyone of any age and even if they are super healthy.
Yes still resting. I will rest all day tomorrow because I think I walked a lot today.
That was a fun thing.

I was just planning to message you since its been a few days. Glad to hear you're out and about again. :D
I'll check it out now.
Still good not to overdo it so you can rest a day then do something small the next day like taking a walk in a park.

Aw thanks. Well if I'm not on you can always ask Chris how I am doing.  I'm going to post some photos soon here but I will make a real post on LJ about my day. Going there to do that now. But yeah I did too much so I need to rest today. I feel a bit bad again from doing too much yesterday.

Thanks.  The hospital visit was interesting to me.  In a way I actually enjoyed it at least the conversations. Getting blood taken and the rest was not fun but everyone was so nice and helpful.  I'm doing better now but still not fully recovered. Today was a day I was finally able to go out for a few hours though.

Thanks. Good to hear from you again as I have missed you and the others. Stupid vestigal organ causing problems.  Yes good riddance.  I made an Lj on what's been going on.  Chris has been awesome through all of this.  He has no competition for sure.
I think I remember that scene. I don't like socks for Christmas but for some reason these sleeping socks made me happy.

Ha, I am not a fun of socks as gifts myself, though, I usually
destroy mine rather fast and always are in need of more.

" Chris to take care of you, he really shows why he should be winning the award for World's Best Husband. He would annihilate all competition by just entering the backstage area."

The comment of the year as far as I'm concerned. lol Thanks, bro!

Nice to know you're getting better. Appendicitis must be a pain to deal with. There was a time I thought I had it because I was having pains on my sides and had to go to the hospital. They initially thought it was Appendicitis but later on they found it was probably just a really bad bug bite (which would make sense as I got bitten a day prior to the incident). So it's nice to get some idea of what it would've been like for me had I actually gotten Appendicitis and had to get the surgery.

Glad you're doing well. :) You've got a great husband taking care of you.

I'm glad to hear yours was nothing serious.  I'm doing better now but still not well.  I'm still in bed most of the day but today I was able to get out which was nice.  Thanks. Chris has been wonderful through all this.

Yeah, not sure I would've had a great experience since I was alone up at college.

Glad to know you're getting your strength back. ^_^

This is a little off topic, but I kind of gotten into some kind of odd situation. Someone faved one of my works and I commented on his DA page thanking him for doing so (as I do with anyone who faves my work). Now he's suddenly asking me if he can draw one of my artworks if I do one of his. I know there are such things as art trades, but this guy sort of came out and asked for it all rather abruptly. I barely even know this guy and suddenly he's asking something out of me. Should I just turn him down? Because while I could fufill his request, I couldn't finish it as quickly as he claims he can finish mine.

Thanks.

Just say no.  I hate people that demand free art from strangers. You guys aren't friends.  You faved something now he wants more stuff from you.  I don't do requests because of this stupidity and I don't do art trades except once in a while with only close friends.

Yeah, I mean he said he was going to draw one of my works in exchange for me doing one of his. But I honestly didn't like the fact that he pretty much dragged me into this deal just out of the blue. I know that if I tell him I'm not gonna do his request, he's not gonna do mine. But I honestly have no problem with that. I was not currently seeking to have my work done by someone else, so I really do not mind the rejection. You're absolutely right, this guy's not my friend and he's demanding work out of me literally the moment we met.

He actually even asked me if I could write him a fanfic story that he had. I turned him down on that because he already had the idea for his fanfic story and what he wanted to do with it. So why does he need me to write it for him when he's more than capable of doing it himself? He told me the reason he couldn't do it himself was because he was not good at writing and that he was better at drawing. Well if you ask me, if he was able to at least come up with a fanfic story idea, then he should be more than able to write his own story rather than have someone else do it for them (reminded me too much of what GodzillaDanger tried to do to me).

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna turn him down. I mean, he does seem like an alright guy. But asking requests from people they literally just met is not right at all.

He sounds like one of those that begs art from artists for free and likely either won't keep his end of the bargain in a trade or does a hap hazard job just to get something from a better artist.  I'm glad you turned him down.  It's not right at all.  Ok man, I'm not so well right now so I may not reply til later on.

Sorry I am so late, my job has been killing me and we are redoing the whole store. Glad you are feeling better and continue to take it easy as much as you can.
Appendixes are a nightmare and they can kill you, I am really glad you caught that as soon as you did. But it's good to see you update this and take care with everything.
I know we have talked about medical problems a few times before and as far as I am concerned, I will avoid my back surgery for as long as I can to forever. :XD:

Yes, well I didn't have much choice. That's what they told me. Surgery or death.  No future in death.  I'm still recovering but doing better. I'm off the meds now and coping with dizziness and lack of energy.  I walk now but not for very long.  So in the physical therapy stage of things now. It sucks they don't know what causes this and anyone young and healthy can get it.

Yeah, it's crazy how a "Useless" organ has they say can cause death. Crazy. But however one looks at it and I have known lots of people to get theirs removed.
Good Luck on the recovery, take it easy and all the time you need and we'll see you when everything gets back to normal. Have a good recovery. :)

Unfortunately it's still just for a bit.  I still kind of feel like crap and the doc said I may have a few more weeks to go still but that I'm doing well.  Yes nothing it seems though I don't want to hear about anything like that right now. I need low stress during this time so I can recover and I still have lots of stress with all the other issues going on.

You are welcome. I'll get to reading your LJ eventually, but I have just moved and we don't have internet yet (we should get it soon). So my internet access is very limited, I can only access school WiFi and mobile data. The former has LJ blocked and the latter I use very sparingly because it's very limited which is why I was super inactive the past few days. I did write a journal regarding this, not sure if you saw or not.

Ah yes I did see that journal.  That sucks LJ is blocked on it. Very stupid.  Please note me your FULL address.  Don't leave any info out or I will get stuff returned.  If your phone has a plan to include the US we can trade that info too.  Though I don't like texting but for once in a while it's ok.

I'll definitely send you my address once I get knowledge of the full version. I plan to send several people my address anyway once the time comes, since I like that idea especially when it comes to sending little holiday cards. Unfortunatly my phone does not have a plan to include the States.

Interesting thing: when reading about the film "The Pirates" I for some reason instantly thought it was Korean, to the point of thinking that it has been mentioned in the journal post but I see that this isn't the case. Checking google it was South Korean, I'm not sure how I could have known only based on it being called an Asian film in the journal.
I never even heard of this movie until now but somehow my intuition keeps surprising me.

Hmm so Thag managed to survive Paul's vivisections? Impressive I must say, Paul must have been merciful it's rare anyone lives long after his experiments.
